My journey in Chinese Medicine was born from a desire to spark the light in others from the light that life has given to me. I believe this is the mandate of the healer; to catalyze the greatest potential and true natures in each individual, no matter what challenges they may face. Growing up, I found that I was neither a left nor right brained individual. I could be as engrossed in sussing out a difficult calculus problem as I was painting in the abstract. And as Chinese Medicine is both an art and a science, this combination of talents is what I have to offer as a practitioner: an analytic mind married to an understanding that there is a fluid art to healing; I will draw from my experience as practitioner as well as spurring the patient’s personal path and commitment towards health. Through my education at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, OR, I have developed the tools to accomplish this, training which includes acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, moxibustion, Gua Sha, and Tuina massage. I am also trained in the Shen Hammer system of pulse diagnosis, ensuring a more accurate and comprehensive Chinese Medicine diagnosis. It is my greatest aim in this medicine to find the root of any given problem, whether coming from mind, body, or spirit, not merely the symptomatic branches, and at the same time to maintain a patient-focused approach through the course of treatment, attuning to the needs of the patient every step of the way. In my free time I enjoy rock climbing, a pursuit that has taught me perseverance, creativity, and grace in the midst of scary and adverse situations, and meditation, which allows me full presence in the treatment room. When not in school I enjoy running with my adorable pup, Bodhi.
