I became interested in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine after working in various allopathic clinics as a medical scribe. While earning my degree in Biology at Portland State University, I took the opportunity to expand my knowledge of health care and build my resume for medical school by assisting physicians with their charting. This work provided me with great insight into patient care and the strengths and weaknesses of allopathic medicine. After three years in the field, I decided an allopathic approach to disease and treatment did not align with my ideal of health and providing care. Thus I began my investigation into acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. I connected immediately with the medicine’s whole systems approach, emphasis on promoting wellness, and mind-body connection. I began my formal studies at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2016. I have continued to work at a medical scribe at the Oregon Health and Science University in the Comprehensive Pain Center during my time as a student. My experience at a large teaching hospital has helped me develop a unique perspective as an acupuncturist. I am well-rounded in my understanding of medicine and my approach to care.
I am passionate about integrative care and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team to best support patients. I like working with a wide range of patients addressing concerns including musculoskeletal complaints, pain management, and women’s health. In addition to providing acupuncture, I incorporate other therapies including Shiatsu massage and cupping into treatment.
I am fortunate to have been born in rural Oregon and have enjoyed living an active life exploring the beautiful outdoors. I enjoy being active in other ways including dancing Argentine tango and practicing yoga. My background in dance, yoga, and Taiji greatly influence my understanding of body mechanics and the importance of moving with ease in daily life.
